Bonne loses to Cuban world champ
Lorenzo Bonne showcased his boxing prowess against a formidable opponent but still lost on points to Cuban Alain Limonta yesterday in the 60kg category at the 18th Aiba Youth World Boxing Championships taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Against the lightweight Aiba junior world champion, Bonne tried not to get caught but Limonta made his experience count in this first round bout.
In a text message sent to Seychelles Amateur Boxing Federation secretary general Edmond Folette after the bout, Seychellois coach Jerry Legras who is in Sofia, said he is satisfied with Bonne’s fight.
“I am very satisfied with how Bonne fought, but his Cuban opponent was very strong and is a very good technician. Bonne gave him a good fight still,” wrote Legras.
Seychelles’ other fighter of the championships, Keven Kilindo, will exchange punches with New Zealander Pomare Jahsaiah tomorrow in the 91kg class.
The draw was made on Monday.
