Masqueraders dress to thrill |28 April 2014
To add to the carnival weekend ambience a masquerade ball was held at the Eden Plaza on Friday night.
And what would a masquerade ball be without a costume contest! In first place was Seychellois Mary Carbognin in her gold outfit, followed in second place by a ‘pirate’ from California and in third place by Maya, from Ukraine, dressed up as the ‘snake lady’. A small girl, Victoria, dressed as a mermaid, has won a special prize from Organiser Seychelles.
Besides partaking in the masquerade ball, guests were also wowed by a range of international and local entertainment, mainly dance performances by various delegations who were to take part in the following day’s carnival parade. These included the Notting Hill, UK, Mozambique, Brazil, Kenya and KwaZulu Natal of South Africa.
The night ended with guests swaying to the beats of one of our local music groups ‘Collective Soul’ offering a diverse range of natural, clean and lively music, pulling everyone on the dance floor till early morning.
The evening was organised by Organiser Seychelles which specialises in public relations conference and events management, in collaboration with the Seychelles Tourism Board.
Neddy Nourice from Organiser Seychelles described the event as a success as more than 250 people turned up. Those include the general public, invited guests and members of the press. It was a night full of life!
