Artists join voices in fight against cancer |17 July 2014

A charity musical concert is being held tomorrow, Friday July 18, to raise funds to build a centre for cancer patients.

Organised by the Cancer Concern Association (CCA), the ‘Hope Concert’ will take place at the International Conference Centre starting at 7.30pm.

A group of Seychelles’ finest artists have come together to perform for free during the event. Champion, Elijah Solda 3D, the warrior band, Jahkim, Regi, Joe samy and Jose Charles are among many others who will perform tomorrow night.

“We are overjoyed that artists are helping us to raise fund, which shows that the community is slowly accepting that cancer is a concern,” a spokesperson for the organisers said.

Tickets, at R150 apiece, are on sale at the Ray’s Music room, Medix Pharmacy situated at Unity House and with the members of the CCA.

The percentage of our population being affected by cancer is on the rise. Patients come from different age groups and the CCA feels that cancer should be everybody’s concern and not only that of the patients.

In line with its motto ‘You never have to be alone’, the CCA wishes to build a centre where patients can go for counseling, assistance and information.

One can suffer from depression when diagnosed with this illness and such a centre will help them maintain a positive mindset so as not to lose hope.

In certain cases some patients may feel at ease speaking with someone from the centre instead of a family member.

The CCA is therefore encouraging all individuals and organisations to show their support to this noble cause by attending the concert.
