SFA takes over fishing vessel licence applications and renewals |07 January 2015
The Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) has taken over all fishing vessel licence applications and renewals with immediate effect.
This procedure was being formerly done by the Seychelles Licensing Authority (SLA).
Before SFA was issuing letter of recommendations to SLA as the company was the full licensing authority. In 2012 the SLA amended its laws which stipulated that certain institutions can issue their licences themselves.
And as SFA is dealing directly with fisheries and fishing activities, and based on the new fishing law recently approved by the National Assembly, the organisation now can provide a one-stop shop for fishermen, fishing vessel and boat owners.
This will also speed up the licence administration procedure and improve service delivery.
The application renewals and payments will be done at the SFA headquarters at the Fishing Port, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 2.30pm.
For Praslin and La Digue, the procedure will be done at the SFA Baie Ste Anne office, Monday to Friday from 8am to 1.30pm.
