President Michel expresses his sadness
President James Michel has expressed his great sadness and that of the Seychellois people to Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong following the demise of the founding father of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew.
In a message of condolence, President Michel noted that Mr Yew “will be remembered as the key figure in transforming Singapore into the global trade and great powerhouse that it is today.”
President Michel wished the family and friends of the late Mr Yew and the Singaporean people strength and fortitude in this hour of deep sorrow.
Lee Kuan Yew, the statesman who transformed Singapore from a small port city into a wealthy global hub, died yesterday at the age of 91.
The city-state's prime minister for 31 years, he was widely respected as the architect of Singapore's prosperity.
