Letter to the Editor - Misogynic remarks unacceptable |10 July 2015
I was appalled, as I am sure every Seychellois woman was, by the misogynic remarks made by Mr Patrick Pillay, leader of the Lalyans Seselwa, as posted on a recent YouTube video "Ton Pat strikes again...".
The sexist remarks, regarding marital status, as levelled in such a personal way at the State House Chief Press Secretary, Miss Srdjana Janosevic, are unacceptable in the modern world.
These remarks are also unbecoming of a person who, as a holder of several ministerial positions in the past, would have been assisted by many competent women in various administrative positions, like Miss Janosevic, striving to discharge their administrative responsibilities as capable professionals.
It behoves Mr Pillay to make an unreserved apology to Miss Janosevic and to refrain henceforth from making any such sexist, disparaging remarks about any woman in the workplace in Seychelles.
