Mihin Lanka has celebrated its second anniversary of its direct flight from Sri Lanka to Seychelles.

This took the form of a reception at the Savoy Resort & Spa at Beau Vallon where the airline also recognised its local partners through certificates of appreciation.

Travel agencies who have been selling tickets for the airline were rewarded with certificates of appreciation and an award for their support and contribution towards the airline during 2015.

Attending the ceremony were guest of honour Vincent Meriton, who is the Seychelles Minister for Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports;

the head of sales for Mihin Lanka, Prathap Balakrishnan; the director of Vision Voyages Ahmed Mahir; the general sales agent for both Mihin Lanka and Sri Lankan Airlines in Seychelles; and former general manager Sandy Kellar.

Mr Mahir retraced the progress the airline has made since it started operations here.

He talked about the increase in flight numbers and other services offered.

There was also a musical performance that added to the evening’s entertainment. Olivia Pillay of Seashell Travel won the first prize of the raffle draw which was a return ticket to Colombo.

Seychelles flyers who wish to travel to Colombo now have an option of three flights per week to choose from on Mihin Lanka. The increased frequencies have given both the business community and leisure travellers more choices and options when booking their flights with the airline.

Since its launch in 2007, Mihin Lanka has come a long way, becoming one of the region’s most admired travel brands. The Skytrax Awards programme, established in 1999, surveys 18.9 million airline passengers in 110 countries and bases its rankings on product quality and staff service standards. Mihin Lanka plays a crucial role in supporting regional connectivity, and recently enhanced its offering by introducing its new Business Class service, Mihin Lanka services corporate, business, pilgrim, and leisure travellers, by providing convenient direct flights to key destinations across the Indian Subcontinent, Asia and the Middle East. These destinations include Dhaka in Bangladesh and Jakarta in Indonesia as well as Madurai, Kolkata, Chennai, Gaya and Varanasi in India.
