Philip Toussaint, Tania best male and female artists
Philip Toussaint and Tania clinched the best male and female artists at the sixth Cable Tune Awards show which took place on Saturday night in a packed Tequila Boom discotheque.
Those who could not make it to the Tequila Boom could follow the award live on Seychelles Broadcasting Cooperation (SBC) television.
The host for the evening was no other than Colvin Beaudoin, who is also an actor in the mini-series ‘Menas’.
In between the presentation of awards the evening was interspersed with performances from the nominees such as Champion, T-Trey, Jakim and many others.
The Best New Artist award went to Vinod, who was truly surprised to have made it this far.
The Best Collaboration award went to Philip Toussaint & Jahrimba with the song ‘Pa Pou Anpandan’ as ‘Fo Promes’ sung by Toussaint’s daughter Tracey, won the Best Single.
Zanfan Move won the awards for Best Duo/Group with their song ‘Popiler’.
Commenting on her Best Female Artist award, an emotional Tania said she is really happy to have won the award.
“I am so happy that I won the Best Female Award, but unfortunately this was my last performance, but I will be back,” she promised.
Best Male artist Phillipe Toussaint, who also entertained the crowd that night, thanked everyone and Cable & Wireless for such an award and for “believing in me”.
However, the award that many were waiting to see who will grab it was the Best-selling artist for cable tune. The crowd was already shouting who they thought the winner was; and most were shouting out the name Regi... And indeed Regi was the winner of this award.
The artists and everyone present celebrated after the show in the after-party at Tequila Boom.
Also during the show Cable & Wireless launched a new channel called ‘Cable Tune TV’ on channel 99.
A representative from Cable & Wireless Albert Duncan said that this new channel will help promote local artists and their music.
“Cable & Wireless has always promoted the local artists and their music. This channel will provide a better platform for them to have that opportunity to shine. We started working on this project last year, and today we are proud to finally make it become a reality,” he said.
To note the channel will only be broadcast for three hours, from 9pm to midnight.
