Children of the La Rosière primary school who form part of the volleyball team have received a donation of sport shoes.

The 100 pairs of shoes have been donated by the Friends of Mont Buxton with the help of the Chinese embassy.

The handover ceremony of the new sports shoes took place at the school yesterday morning during the assembly.

It was Chinese chargé d’affaires Zhang Xiangyang who handed over the donation to the children of the school.

This was in the presence of the school’s head teacher Beryl Botsoie, the chairperson of the Friends of Mont Buxton Jude Commettant, school children, parents and teachers.

Expressing her gratitude to the Friends of Mont Buxton for their devotion for helping the La Rosière school, head teacher Botsoie said the sport shoes will be used by members of the volleyball team who always want to shine.

“This donation is thanks to the community, Friends of Mont Buxton and the Chinese embassy, which have seen that the children needed sport shoes. We had children who were doing sports activities barefoot. It will also benefit our volleyball team,” she said.

Chairperson Commettant said the Friends of Mont Buxton will always be present to serve the community.

“We are here to help the community. We wanted to help the La Rosière school with the help of the Chinese embassy. We are really happy to make such a donation that will help the children to shine in different sports activities,” he said.
