Samsung introduces new concept of air conditioning in Seychelles |17 June 2016
Four innovations in HVAC engineering which have been launched by Samsung will transform indoor and outdoor air conditioning in Seychelles.
A conference was held at Eden Blue yesterday with contractors, companies, organisations and other stakeholders to showcase the new products and help those present to better understand the innovation behind them.
The presentation was led by Samsung East Africa (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) HVAC engineer Meshack Odhiambo.
Samsung Electronics are now offering the 360 cassette air conditioning unit, DVM S Eco 14HP, DVM 30HP, and the DVM Chiller.
The world's first circular cassette, the 360 cassette, is a bladeless fast cooling unit without the cold draft. The unit can be fitted within the ceiling or exposed, and suit any type of interior design. The circular LED display windows allow users to change the air flow depending on preference including horizontal, vertical, and separate zone control air flow compared to the four-way cassette blade which has an uneven air flow. In addition, it has the world's first booster fan creating even cooling and improves distribution of airflow by 39%.
Samsung’s single outdoor unit solution for apartment and office buildings, the DVM S Eco 14HP supports heavier usage with the application of cutting-edge technology. This new side discharge VRF air conditioner has also 10HP and 12HP with improved heating performance by 20% and increased air flow by 10% compared to standard side discharge VRF units. With an extended piping length of up to 160m, an installation height of up to 50m and a width of less than a metre, the new DVM S Eco 14HP ensures better use of space, while the four-way piping enables convenient installation.
The centralised VRF 30HP Super DVM has an energy efficiency ratio of 3.7 with an inverter scroll compressor. Compared to the conventional DVM it saves 40% of space and includes an innovative leak detection system and features increased heating performance by 29% and 17% increased airflow rate. Combined with high energy efficiency, it is an ideal solution for both modulated and non-modulated VRF system.
The revolutionary air-cooled DVM Chiller offers greater energy efficiency with reduced annual utility costs by 36% to 50% compared to conventional chillers.
The DVM Chiller which comes in the 12, 16 or 20 tons single module is space efficient with easy installation and maintenance.
In addition, a total building management system is installed and the product delivers powerful heating performance while providing cold water through thermal ice storage.
Other products were showcased such as the new inverter technology -- the triangular AC -- and the floor standing Q9000 which is not only elegant but with a reach of 14m.
Mr Odhiambo said Seychelles’ location and with global warming the temperatures are gradually increasing so cooling is going to be a necessity not a luxury.
He said for hotel industries they find that running cooling alone takes up to around 30% of their costs.
“If they are efficient products then you are helping them reduce the running cost on cooling so by getting the efficient cooling into the market you are appealing to the very important requirement the population that wants to be cool. These products are even more beneficial for residential purposes as it is important for them to get an efficient unit which will not make them pay high bills at the end of the month,” he said.
He said the 360 cassettes and DVM S Eco 14HP units will be available within two or three weeks at their partner Cellular Service here in Seychelles and the other two will be brought in on orders.
Ferdinand Denouse from the Denousse & Sons Air Conditioning congratulated Samsung for creating these latest products.
“These are interesting products; we have already put a few on the market as these units have very good factors in terms of space, weight, energy efficiency and others but the time taken for spare parts to arrive in the country should also be favourable for our clients as they cannot wait for weeks until the parts arrive,” he said.
Remarks were also made by the senior manager east and central Africa Charles Kimari and managing director of cellular services Raja Ramani.
