Julie’s Snacks re-opens doors at former Children’s Playground |20 June 2016

For those of you who remember Julie’s Snacks at Bodco and at the Islands Development Company (IDC) compounds and could not resist her tasty goodies, the snack shop has re-opened its doors at the former Children’ Playground opposite Maison du Peuple.

The snack shop is run by Julie Charlette and she sells very affordable snacks with cakes at R3, sandwich at R10 just to name a few.

Julie’s Snacks had to relocate as the people in charge of the former premises needed their location. But this did not deter Julie from getting a new venue as she is a determined woman who wants to be her own boss.

After going through the necessary procedure, Julie re-opened her snack shop at the former playground.

“It is a very convenient location as I get clients from nearby workplaces like Cable & Wireless, Maison du Peuple, the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) and Seychelles Trading Company (STC) on Bois de Rose Avenue.

As she is enthusiastic about her business, Julie has gone the extra mile and now prepares and sells breakfast and meals like chips and chow mein.

“I come at 6am in the morning. I prepare my breakfast and put them in boxes. When I open at around 7.10am and clients start arriving, I just start selling. My breakfasts are selling quite well,” said Julie.

She remarked that clients also love her famous, big burgers which she sells at R25 each.

Regarding allegations that people no longer frequent the former playground and therefore it’s not a good place to set up shop, Julie believes otherwise.

“If we, the business owners, start coming and sell our products, people will follow. We must try to do things in life,” said Julie.

Julie’s Snacks opens from 7.10am Monday to Saturday. It is closed on Sunday when she gets to relax a bit.

For tasty snacks including breakfast, at very low prices, come to Julie’s Snacks at the former Children’s Playground.
