Government reviews GOP and employment fees for foreign workers |28 July 2016
The Office of the Vice-President has announced that after discussions with the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the government has decided to review the current employment fees as well as GOP (Gainful Occupational Permit) rates.
This results in an amendment to the Employment Act and the Immigration Regulations after which the new tariffs which are already in force stand at R500 for employment fees and R6,000 for GOP per year. If paid on a monthly basis, GOP will now cost R500 per month.
SCCI chairman Wilson Nancy has commented that the reduction in the GOP and employment fees have come as a result of dialogues with the government as part of a continued effort to improve the business environment.
