NDEA Communiqué NDEA agent injured while performing his duty |31 January 2017
After an operation on Praslin this weekend the NDEA (National Drugs Enforcement Agency) is investigating a case whereby one of its agents was injured while arresting a young man at the Grand Anse district.
The NDEA states that obstructing the work of any of its NDEA agents and assaulting its agents is an offence.
For the past two years the agency has recorded 94 cases of intimidation, assault, or obstructing the work of NDEA agents.
The NDEA is concerned that these types of offences are on the increase and that the public needs to understand the nature and challenges the NDEA agents are faced with in tackling the scourge of drugs in Seychelles.
The NDEA wishes to thank all members of the public who are cooperating and supporting the agency in this important work against drugs.
