Kempinski celebrates landmark 120thanniversary with 'Ignite the Night' festivities |12 April 2017
On Saturday, April 8, Kempinski Hotels celebrated 120 years of delivering rich and meaningful experiences to its guests with ‘Ignite the Night’, a series of festivities designed to enchant and delight guests, as Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group marks this milestone anniversary.
A symbolic nod to Kempinski Hotels heritage, ‘Ignite the Night’ was launched with bespoke celebrations at Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare.
Hotel guests and local VIPs were all invited to celebrate this auspicious occasion with a jubilant cocktail reception at the hotel’s main beach in Baie Lazare.
The celebration was a tribute to both Kempinski’s rich tradition of impeccable European service and Seychelles’ unique and vibrant cultural heritage.
Live music and traditional dancers entertained attendees throughout the evening, which culminated in a fiery display during which a large structure bearing “120” was ignited in dramatic style by a gallant fire-eater.
The 120th anniversary celebrations will also see the launch of the Kempinski Travel in Style Competition, offering the chance to win an exclusive 10-night trip for two people, in three Kempinski hotels, including flights, limousine transfers and suite accommodation.
Commenting on this landmark anniversary, Markus Semer, chairman of the management board and chief executive of Kempinski Hotels, said: “After 120 years, we’re delighted to pay tribute to an extraordinary past, and herald an exciting future. Our founder, Berthold Kempinski, paved the way for a new standard of hospitality, based on timeless European elegance and impeccable service. He created venues that introduced guests to new experiences, in unique and original surroundings, and his innovative and entrepreneurial approach has remained the inspiration for our development over the years.”
Today Kempinski manages and operates some of the world’s most iconic hotels, such as the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, and the Çirağan Palace Kempinski in Instanbul. The brand is synonymous with elegant European service, blended with the individual culture and traditions of each destination.
As well as the 120th anniversary, 2017 also marks the return of Kempinski to the Americas, with the opening of Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana, Cuba’s first five-star luxury hotel. Housed in one of Old Havana’s most iconic buildings, the hotel will be the newest star in the Kempinski constellation.
“We have spent 120 years exploring the world, creating a constellation of remarkable havens to which guests can travel and stay in style, and we haven’t lost our thirst for discovery,” concludes Mr Semer.
“While we value and preserve our traditions, we will continue to develop new and innovative approaches to hospitality, so while celebrating our past this year, we can also look forward to a bright future.”
