Basketball: National League - Mont Fleuri win again, Rockers dodge the Bullets |27 June 2017
While much of the talk during the weekend was about NBA star Kevin Séraphin being in Seychelles as well as the National Day international tournament organised by Premium Cobras, local basketballers were also in action in national league matches played at Victoria Gymnasium.
Women’s league leaders Mont Fleuri continued to show their title intent when they came out on top against Anse Etoile Stars. Since signing Benin captain Aisha Kondoh, Mont Fleuri have really been dominant and it was the same player who dominated the game this time.
Kondoh scored 36 points to lead her side to a 72-37 victory against the Stars who are still looking to find their best form.
Mont Fleuri dominated the game, winning all four quarters 12-10, 28-11, 18-9 and 14-7 to maintain their place at the top of the league standings.
In the other women’s match, defending champions B Challenge bounced back from defeat to dismantle RA Sonics 83-34 with Kerina Figaro and Simone Malbrook both grabbing 14 points for the winners.
In the only men’s division one match played during the weekend, MBU Rokers and Cascade Bullets played a tight contest which ultimately ended in the Rockers’ favour 86-75.
Three players scored 19 points in this game and they are Pascal Bibi and Nigel Sinon coming from the winners and Bullets’ Biko Biong.
Two men’s division two match-ups also took place last weekend. Kris Bouchereau’s 27 points earned his Mont Fleuri Ballerz side a 62-52 win over AB Boys, while Beau Vallon Buccaneers beat MBU Boys 82-67.
