SriLankan Airlines showcases products and services |17 August 2017

 

The SriLankan Airlines Seychelles team made a presentation recently showcasing what the airline has to offer in terms of services and products.

The team was led by the airline’s country manager for Seychelles, Lalith de Silva, in the presence of Seychelles station manager Franky Hetimier, other officials and staff of the airline, travel agents who normally sell SriLankan Airlines and other airline representatives.

SriLankan Airlines, the national airline of Sri Lanka, has its local office at the former Mihin Lanka location on Francis Rachel Street. Its inaugural flight to Seychelles was on October 31, 2016 after Mihin Lanka ceased operations. It has a four-day frequency to Seychelles on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. SriLankan Airlines flies to 105 cities in 47 countries. The airline is currently expanding and further diversifying its wide range of products and services in order to drive the country’s ongoing boom in tourism and economic development.

Addressing the gathering at the presentation, Mr de Silva said the event is the first of many from the airline that will follow.

“Today we are looking at what SriLankan as a product has to offer,” said Mr de Silva.

Mr Hetimier then took over on the products, policy and guidelines of the airline through a video presentation.

He mentioned how the airline started as Air Ceylon in 1947 and that it flew to Seychelles with that logo once.

In 1979, he said, it was established as AirLanka and in 1988 rebranded as SriLankan Airlines and partnered with Emirates Airline.

SriLankan Airlines’ hub is located at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, providing convenient connections to its global route network of 105 destinations in 47countries (including codeshare operations) in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Far East, North America, Australia and Africa.

SriLankan has mutual code-share services with Malaysia Airlines, Etihad Airways, Air Canada, Qantas, Alitalia, Oman Air, Finnair, Jetstar Asia, Japan Airlines, NIKI, Air Berlin, American Airlines, Qatar Airways and Myanmar Airways. It operates a fleet of 25 aircraft – including wide-bodied A330 aircraft, A321 aircraft and mid-range A320s. A workforce of SriLankan has a global workforce of approximately 7000 employees in Sri Lanka and overseas. As for in-flight comforts, the SriLankan fleet contains luxurious seats that have ample pitch and width. Seating is in a two-class system of Business and Economy. Business classes on long haul aircraft are equipped with flat-bed seats. The AVOD in-flight entertainment system has the latest Audio / Video On Demand function with games etc. Complementing this facility are the wide screens with superior high resolution picture quality for infinite viewing pleasure. Also available is the air-show with forward and downward cameras; and video games in most seats. The Airlines’ A330-300 fleet is equipped with the latest Thales Avant in-flight entertainment system, wifi connectivity and live news updates.
