Visa waiver agreement with Egypt in the works |24 August 2017

Seychelles is currently working to conclude a visa waiver agreement with the Arab Republic of Egypt. Until this formality is finalised, and also due to new internal Egyptian procedures, the Department of Foreign Affairs urges all Seychellois passport holders to fulfill the necessary visa requirements prior to travelling to Egypt to avoid eventualities upon arrival.

The Consular Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs will facilitate and expedite the visa request for Seychelles nationals wishing to travel to Egypt. The request should be lodged 15 days prior to departure and the necessary financial conditions met. This should be done through the Consular Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs which will then liaise with the Egyptian embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.

As a matter of priority the Department of Foreign Affairs facilitates travel of Seychellois nationals by concluding visa waiver agreements. Today, the passport of the Republic of Seychelles is considered the best travel document to bear on the African continent in terms of the number of countries a Seychellois can visit.

Although certain countries still require Seychellois nationals to acquire relevant visas, Seychelles through its Department of Foreign Affairs will continue to stress on the necessity for visa free travel for its nationals.
