International Bible Day Promoting the Word of God |09 December 2017
This weekend the world commemorates the International Bible Day. This is an important date for national Bible societies worldwide where the Bible, the Word of God, is brought to the fore and promoted widely in all Christian churches and denominations.
On this occasion, the Seychelles Bible Society would like to wish everyone in the land a happy day, secure in the knowledge of the certainty of the blessed Word of God.
We would like to encourage everyone to constantly meditate on the Word of God, as it is the Word that heals, saves, and brings harmony and peace.
“O that we learn that ‘man shall not live by bread alone but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Deuteronomy 8: 3)
“Words that are esteemed more than necessary food.” (Job 23: 12)
Words that are sweet to taste, even sweeter than honey in the mouth;
Words that give joy and rejoicing to the hearts;
Words that give light and understanding;
Words that are pure and true
Words that cleanse and sanctify.
How shall a man steer an honest course
but by holding to thy Word, O God.” (Ps119: 97-106)
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return to it without watering the earth
And making it bud and flourish.
So that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater.
So is my Word that goes out from my mouth;
It will not return to me empty.
But will accomplish what I desire
And achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out with joy.
And be led forth in peace.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)
