Children Foundation reward long-serving and devoted staff |23 December 2017
Thirteen staff members working with the Seychelles Children Foundation (SCF) have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
Two of the longest serving employees of SCF -- Monique Louise serving the most years, 30 and Julienne Marie who clocked 25 years -- received special recognition.
Their award was presented to them by the SCF chief executive Jules Hoareau and the manager of the President’s Village Brigitte Balette.
A group of seven employees who have served over 10 years were rewarded and they are Marie Madeleine (10 years), Monette Marie (10 years), Marguerite Port Louis (13 years), Mina Leon (14 years), Anette Port-Louis (15 years) and Linda Freminot (19 years).
William Bibi received the best overall worker award while Jany Nicholas, Murielle William, Rita Estico and Steve D’unienville were rewarded for best efforts.
Mr Hoareau said that when employing a person to work for SCF most specifically those at the President’s Village their love and devotion for a child is a criteria which cannot be measured and no amount of money is enough to pay for.
“This value can only be discovered with time when the person works with children and the two employees serving 25 and 30 years have seen many children grow up. It was through the love and devotion which they had for all these children that they persevered,” he said.
Mrs Louise, who is a principal child support officer, said she started working with children since the age of 16 as a ‘mother’ in the President’s village.
“I’ve worked with children all my life and I do it for the love I have for them as I grew up in large family therefore I have this passion and devotion for this job,” she said.
She added that patience is key to working with children.
“It is like being a mother to them and that takes patience,” she said.
Mrs Marie, who works in the laundry at the President’s Village, said she persevered through love and dedication she had for the children.
