Clarification - No 13th month salary for workers with basic salary above R45,450 |30 January 2018
Workers whose basic monthly salary is above R45,450 shall not be eligible for a 13-month pay.
The Ministry of Employment, Immigration and Civil Status has said that it is clearly stipulated in S.I. 3 of 2017 of the Employment Act 2016 that workers whose basic salary is above the R45,450 shall not be eligible for thirteenth month pay.
It means the provision of the 13-month pay under the Employment (Amendment) Act, 2016 remains as is.
The following workers are also not eligible to receive a 13th month pay:
(a) Non-Seychellois workers;
(b) Workers who are on contract for skills development.
All 13th month salary payments are exempt from personal income tax.
