Athletics - Young athletes shine in Open Season competition |16 March 2018
Young athletes have since the start of the year been competing in a number of competitions organised by the Seychelles Athletics Federation.
The Open Season competition was held two weeks ago at Stad Popiler and the many youngsters made the most of the opportunity to claim top spots in their respective events.
The winners were: Tessy Ferley (female 100m in 12.94 seconds and 200m in 26.91 seconds), Stephano Bibi (male 100m in 11.11 seconds), Carlos Roucou (male 200m in 23.33 seconds), Ashley Baccus (male 400m in 50.78 seconds), Sheryl Confiance (female 800m in 2:48.74), Jean-Pierre Barallon (male 800m in 2:14.85), Angelic Boniface (female 1,500m in 5:55.66), Dwayne Mellie (male 1,500m in 4:38,67), Corinne Rasaonantenaina (female 3,000m in 14:49.54), Daryl Hibonne (male 5,000m in 18:35.02), Arsu team of Alckisha Rigodon, Tessy Bristol, Anisha Rabat and Maura Raoul (female 4x100m relay in 53.32 seconds), Port Glaud Shooting Star team of Paolo Beaudoin, Stephano Bibi, Janosh Moncherry and Ashley Baccus (male 4x100m relay in 44.17 seconds), Amelie Charles (female long jump with 4.94m), Mervyn Monthy (male long jump with 6.85m), Stephan Dixie (male triple jump with 12.10m), Natacha Chetty (female high jump with 1.72m), Norris Brioche (male high jump with 2m), Shamira Chang-Waye (female shot put with 8.26m), Michel Evenor (male shot with 11.46m), Dane Vidot (male discus with 21.02m and male hammer with 25.56m), Rabella Bonne (female javelin with 24.68m and hammer with 22.94m), Jean-Christian Rakotonomenjarahary (male javelin with 40.84m).
