Indian Ocean Tuna Ltd (IOT) Press Statement

 

Reported cases of Shigella contamination

As a result of routine checks which were carried out according to the food safety compliance guidelines of Indian Ocean Tuna Ltd (IOT), a few expatriate employees were found to be contaminated with Shigella bacteria.

Upon this discovery, IOT immediately implemented strong corrective and preventive measures at the factory & residences by giving its employees access to antibiotics treatment for immediate control. As per the public health requirement and compliance, IOT reported these cases to the Public Health Commission of the Republic of Seychelles.

The situation is being managed with the necessary due diligence. We assure everyone that IOT is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with the Public Health Commission and there is no need to be alarmed.
