19 medals for Seychelles at World Championship
The Northern Tang Soo Do Studio have collected a grand total of 19 medals at the 17th World Tang Soo Do Association (WTSDA) World Championship which took place on Friday and Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina.
The team won nine gold, five silver and five bronze medals.
Seychelles gold medals came courtesy of Sophie Perolari (3 – weapon, hyung and sparring), David Boniface (2 – sparring and hyung), Dean Athanase (2 – sparring and hyung), Che Benoiton (1- weapon) and Lindy Christie Bedier (1 - weapon).
The silver medallists were David Boniface (1 -weapon), (Steve Marie (2 – hyung and sparring) and Kian Laurence (2 – weapon and hyung).
The five bronze medals came from Che Benoiton (2 – hyung and sparring), Steve Marie (1 - weapon), Kian Laurence (1- sparring) and Daniel Bedier (1 - weapon).
The 17th World Championship was a WTSDA that continued 32 years after Grandmaster Jae Chul Shin organised the first event in 1986.
The contestants competed in the empty hand hyung and permitted weapon hyung.
