Leverage Band make good impression in first live show |25 July 2018

The Leverage Band based at La Louise did not disappoint their fans in their first big live show on Friday July 20 at the International Conference Centre (ICCS).

‘Massive’, ‘explosive’, ‘good performance’, ‘ok’… were some of the words that some fans used to describe the band’s performance after their three-hour show.

The group made up of lead singers Jean Paul Cadeau aka Maestro, Djen (Female), Micheal Marie aka Micko, along withmusicians Jose Chang King on lead guitar, Dereck Louise on bass guitar, Dave Dufrene (Naya) on drums, Alisha Ernesta on keyboard, Paolo Payet on percussion and guest keyboard player Richard Belle, gave an outstanding performance on their debut as they got the crowd to interact as they performed songs on their previous two albums from 2015 ‘Vibrasyon ek Lanbyans’. Fans also got an avant gout of eight new songs -- Ale si ou anvi, ‘License’, Zizman, Ou ki mon tou, Laviktwar pour Jah, Mon star, Pa fer zot konnen and Zoli Rose -- which are yet to be released.

Their repertoire consisting mostly of reggae also saw some sega, ballads, blues, pop and dance music to name a few. They also had the services of guest singer Richie Don, musicians Darren Bonnelame on trumpet, Michel Farabeau on trombone Kevin Ethel on saxophone, guest keyboard player Richard Belle and a trio of female backing vocals and dancers from the Heartbeat Studio to add flair to the show.

To add up more heat to their show, Leverage Band showed that they could play other artists’ songs as they accompanied Mercenary, Kelly, Sandra, Regi and Isham to the delight of the spectators.

According to the band’s producer, Ringo Joubert, people will for the time being get to catch the group playing only at major events in Seychelles or as invitees at private functions as they won’t be performing in hotels or other specific places for the time being.

But Kurt Lagrenade, a representative of NET-ONE, who promotes the band, said that various promotional activities are being planned for the band where people will be able to catch up with them and one will be a happy hour to be held at Club 55 at the Seychelles Trading Company’s (STC) headquarters on August 31.

The band also welcome invitation for any performance at any function.
